Norway and Sweden in the mid 1800’s were short of farm land. Additionally, Sweden had mandatory military service and a State controlled version of Lutheranism, prompting many to emigrate. US’ upper Midwest was popular because of freedom and160-acre homesteads with fertile soils. Knowledge of these conditions prompted many families to emigrate and settle the wild frontier. We realize the sacrifices and faith in Jesus allowed these pioneers to contribute to America’s growth. We feel proud of our heritage, have confidence in the present and faith in our future.

This site will feature these pioneers and their descendants for posterity. Principal focus is upon Peter Iverson and his wife Anna Martha who emigrated from Trondhjem, Norway in 1879. They homesteaded in NW Minnesota, building a 14’ x 16’ log cabin, where they reared 6 boys and 6 girls.
